Comgate is a Czech payment institution, licensed and supervised by the Czech National Bank, that sells an online payment gateway for e-shops and card terminals for shops and restaurants. Its legal entity is Comgate a.s., registered in Hradec Králové, with a second office in Prague. It is also a Visa and Mastercard card acquirer, so for most merchants the payment contract is signed directly with Comgate rather than a bank. As of October 2026 it publishes full price lists in Czech crowns (and euro lists for Slovakia). On the Easy plan you pay a flat 1% on EU consumer cards and 2% on other cards. On the Profi plan you pay 0.67% + CZK 1 on EU consumer cards, with higher rates for business and non-EU cards. New merchants get introductory rates for three months, and first-time card merchants can use a Start plan that is free up to CZK 50,000 a month for six months. The gateway's CZK 100 monthly fee is waived above CZK 100,000 of monthly volume. Payouts go out every working day, usually the day after the purchase. The contract has no fixed term and can be ended on two months' notice with no fee. Comgate signs merchants based in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; businesses elsewhere are assessed case by case. It accepts Visa and Mastercard, not American Express. Independent review data is thin: Firmy.cz shows 3.3 out of 5 from 57 ratings, and we found no regulatory enforcement naming the company.

GoPay is an online payment gateway for e-shops in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, based in České Budějovice. Worldline bought a 53% stake in 2020 and, according to the Czech company register, became sole owner in October 2022. Since 1 April 2025 GoPay has operated as GoPay Czech, the Czech branch of Worldline NV of Belgium, and is licensed by the National Bank of Belgium as a payment institution. As of October 2026 its pricing page offers two plans for new merchants. Both charge a flat 0.95% per card, bank-transfer or QR payment with no fixed fee, after a free introductory period. The Growth plan also has a CZK 80 monthly fee in any month with CZK 50,000 or less in volume. Settlement to your bank costs CZK 10, a chargeback CZK 990 and a refund CZK 5. Your plan price is written into your registration form, and GoPay's terms say an individual agreement overrides its general fee schedule. That schedule, in a version effective 1 November 2026, lists much higher default card fees of about 2.15% to 2.30% + CZK 3 and applies to anything your form does not set. GoPay offers more than 50 payment methods, including Czech bank buttons, QR payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and pay-later options. It says 19,823 merchants use it and that it handled CZK 98.7 billion in 2024. There is no fixed contract term and no cancellation fee. However, the terms let GoPay set reserves at its own discretion and end the contract within three months of signing without giving a reason. Its Trustpilot rating is poor, though from only 26 reviews.
We compare the two for a Czech e-shop taking online card payments in CZK, using each provider's published Czech price lists as of October 2026. For Comgate that means its self-serve Easy and Profi plans (plus Start for first-time card merchants). For GoPay it means the Start and Growth plans on its pricing page. Figures are standard rates after any introductory offer, on EU-issued consumer Visa and Mastercard cards, which Comgate says make up about 95% of card volume. Both are Czech-market payment institutions: Comgate a.s. is licensed by the Czech National Bank, and GoPay has operated since April 2025 as GoPay Czech, the Czech branch of Worldline NV, regulated by the National Bank of Belgium. Both are on the same VAT basis: payment services are VAT-exempt in the Czech Republic. GoPay's fee schedule says all its fees are exempt, and Comgate's help centre says its transaction fees are exempt under the Czech VAT Act. The headline rates are close. Comgate Easy charges 1% and Profi 0.67% + CZK 1. GoPay charges 0.95% with no fixed fee, a CZK 80 monthly fee in months up to CZK 50,000 and CZK 10 for each settlement to your bank. Profi is cheaper than GoPay once the average order passes about CZK 360; below that GoPay is cheaper. Comgate pays out every working day at no charge. GoPay settles monthly unless you choose otherwise, and charges for each settlement. GoPay has the richer introductory offer for shops already selling and a free official WooCommerce plugin; for first-time card merchants signing now, Comgate's six free months outlast the roughly five GoPay can give before its government-backed scheme ends on 31 March 2027. Comgate has cheaper pay-in-three, lets you surcharge business and non-EU cards, and runs its own terminals. Both contracts are open-ended with two months' notice and no exit fee. Payment Review grades Comgate B and GoPay B-.
Comgate suits an established Czech e-shop that wants its money every working day at no charge, has an average order above about CZK 360 (where Profi is cheapest), sells pay-in-three or instalment plans, or wants in-store terminals from the same provider. Its whole contract, terms and every price list are public.
GoPay suits a shop with many small orders, where its 0.95% with no fixed fee beats Comgate on every plan, and an established shop new to GoPay that wants the biggest free allowance (90 days or CZK 500,000). It also suits WooCommerce shops that want a free official plugin. Get every fee in your registration form, because GoPay's general fee schedule lists much higher default card rates for anything the form does not set.
On price the two are close, and the winner turns on order size. On EU consumer cards Comgate's Profi plan is cheaper than GoPay above an average order of about CZK 360, and GoPay's flat 0.95% is cheaper below it. Comgate's Easy plan's 1% is slightly above GoPay's 0.95% at every size. Outside the card rate, Comgate pays out every working day at no charge. It is cheaper on pay-in-three, offers instalment loans, lets you surcharge business and non-EU cards and rents its own terminals. GoPay settles monthly unless you change it, and charges CZK 10 for each settlement. In its favour, GoPay has the richer introductory offer for shops already selling, a smaller monthly fee that stops at a lower volume, and a free official WooCommerce plugin. Its general fee schedule lists much higher default card rates, so a GoPay merchant should check that the registration form sets every fee. An established shop with mid-sized or larger orders that wants daily cash flow will usually do better on Comgate. A shop with many small orders, or an established shop that wants GoPay's 90 days or CZK 500,000 free, may do better on GoPay. For a first-time card merchant signing now, Comgate's six free months outlast GoPay's, which end with the government card scheme on 31 March 2027.
| Feature | Comgate | GoPay |
|---|---|---|
| EU consumer cards | Easy 1%; Profi 0.67% + CZK 1 | 0.95% (Start and Growth) |
| Rates after the introductory offers end, on EU-issued consumer Visa and Mastercard cards including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Comgate's Easy and Profi price lists (2026 editions) list 1% + CZK 0 and 0.67% + CZK 1. GoPay's pricing page lists 0.95% + CZK 0 on both plans and says the rate does not change with volume or payment type. GoPay's terms say the rate written into your registration form overrides its general fee schedule. That schedule lists default consumer-card fees of 2.10% to 2.33% + CZK 3 in the version in force since 25 August 2024, and 2.15% to 2.30% + CZK 3 in the version taking effect on 1 November 2026, for anything the form does not set. Per transaction, Profi is cheaper than GoPay above about CZK 360 and dearer below it; Easy is always 0.05 points dearer than GoPay. Both are on the same VAT basis. GoPay's fee schedule says all its fees are exempt from VAT; Comgate's terms say its fees do not contain VAT, and its help centre says its transaction fees are VAT-exempt under the Czech VAT Act, as payment services generally are. | ||
| EU business and non-EU cards | Easy 2%; Profi 2% + CZK 1 to 3.4% + CZK 4.50 | 0.95% per pricing page; confirm in registration form |
| Comgate prices these separately. Easy charges 2% on business and other EU cards and on all non-EU cards. Profi charges 2% + CZK 1 on EU business cards, 2.7% + CZK 4.50 on non-EU consumer cards and 3.4% + CZK 4.50 on non-EU business cards. Comgate also adds 0.15% when a card is paid in a currency other than your domestic one. GoPay's pricing page lists one card rate and says the price does not vary by payment type. Its general fee schedule, however, lists 2.1% to 4.4% + CZK 3 for cards outside the consumer categories (2.14% to 4.68% + CZK 3 from 1 November 2026), so confirm in your registration form which rate applies. GoPay turns off cards from outside Europe by default and enables them only after risk approval; Comgate's terms make cards issued outside the EEA subject to approval. | ||
| Monthly fee | CZK 100, waived above CZK 100k a month | CZK 80 in months up to CZK 50k Winner |
| Comgate charges CZK 100 a month for the gateway unless that month's volume across your gateway and terminals exceeds CZK 100,000; a second and further e-shop is free. The Start plan waives it for the first six months. GoPay's Growth plan charges CZK 80 in any month with CZK 50,000 or less, and nothing above that; Start waives it for 12 months. GoPay charges less and stops charging at a lower volume. GoPay's general fee schedule lists CZK 190 a month below CZK 50,000, so check that the registration form sets the CZK 80 plan fee. | ||
| Chargeback / refund | CZK 990 / CZK 5 | CZK 990 / CZK 5 |
| Identical on the published plans. Skipping 3D Secure is an optional CZK 0.30 service on both. GoPay's fee schedule limits it to card payments up to CZK 700 that GoPay decides not to send through 3D Secure, and says GoPay carries the chargeback liability on them. | ||
Recommendations based on your business type

On Comgate's Profi plan, CZK 200,000 a month in CZK 1,000 orders costs CZK 1,540, against CZK 1,910 on GoPay with one monthly settlement. Comgate also pays out every working day at no charge.

GoPay's 0.95% with no fixed fee beats both Comgate plans here: CZK 200,000 in CZK 200 orders costs CZK 1,910 on GoPay with one monthly settlement, CZK 2,000 on Comgate Easy and CZK 2,340 on Profi.
Both waive card fees on up to CZK 50,000 a month. Comgate's Start plan gives six months. GoPay's Start plan gives up to 12, but its discount ends with the government scheme on 31 March 2027, so a shop signing now gets about five. Compare what each charges once the free period ends: 0.95% on GoPay, and Easy (1%) on Comgate unless you ask for Profi.

Comgate pays out every working day and charges nothing for CZK payouts to a Czech bank. GoPay settles monthly by default, and daily settlement costs CZK 10 each time, roughly CZK 220 to 300 a month.

Comgate charges 1% (Easy) or 1.9% (Profi) for pay-in-three against GoPay's 1.99%. It also offers instalment loans through Cofidis, ESSOX and Home Credit, which we did not find on GoPay.

GoPay publishes its own free WooCommerce plugin. Comgate relies on third-party modules, some of them paid, or your own integration on its API.
