Comgate is a Czech payment institution, licensed and supervised by the Czech National Bank, that sells an online payment gateway for e-shops and card terminals for shops and restaurants. Its legal entity is Comgate a.s., registered in Hradec Králové, with a second office in Prague. It is also a Visa and Mastercard card acquirer, so for most merchants the payment contract is signed directly with Comgate rather than a bank. As of October 2026 it publishes full price lists in Czech crowns (and euro lists for Slovakia). On the Easy plan you pay a flat 1% on EU consumer cards and 2% on other cards. On the Profi plan you pay 0.67% + CZK 1 on EU consumer cards, with higher rates for business and non-EU cards. New merchants get introductory rates for three months, and first-time card merchants can use a Start plan that is free up to CZK 50,000 a month for six months. The gateway's CZK 100 monthly fee is waived above CZK 100,000 of monthly volume. Payouts go out every working day, usually the day after the purchase. The contract has no fixed term and can be ended on two months' notice with no fee. Comgate signs merchants based in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; businesses elsewhere are assessed case by case. It accepts Visa and Mastercard, not American Express. Independent review data is thin: Firmy.cz shows 3.3 out of 5 from 57 ratings, and we found no regulatory enforcement naming the company.

Tell them what you need. This goes to Comgate only.
Small and mid-size e-shops, shops and restaurants registered in the Czech Republic or Slovakia that sell mainly to local customers, want a local provider and local payment methods, and prefer a fixed published rate to interchange-plus pricing.
The take
BComgate is a sound, transparent choice for a Czech or Slovak e-shop or shop that wants a local provider with published prices, local payment methods and a contract it can leave on two months' notice. The price lists, contract and terms are all public. The rates are simple, and the gateway carries the local methods Czech shoppers expect: bank buttons, QR payments, meal vouchers and several buy-now-pay-later and instalment providers. We hold the grade at B because the service only signs businesses in two countries and only takes Visa and Mastercard. Its terms also let it change fees immediately when card-scheme charges change, which sits awkwardly beside its "fixed final prices" promise. The terms give it broad rights to suspend service and withhold payouts, and there is little independent review data to judge support by.
Are based outside the Czech Republic or Slovakia, need American Express or other card brands, sell into a category Comgate prohibits (adult content, crypto exchanges, online marketplaces, real estate agencies, among others), or process enough volume that a negotiated interchange-plus rate would clearly beat a fixed tariff.
The headline take, the audiences it's right (and wrong) for, and the genuine differentiators behind the verdict.

Comgate publishes everything a merchant signs: the one-page contract, the full terms and every price list, including the rates for business and non-EU cards that many providers leave out of their marketing. It is also a home-grown Czech company that became its own Visa and Mastercard acquirer. It sells online and in-store acceptance on the same tariff structure, and lets clients take a working-capital loan through a partner lender, repaid automatically from their card takings.
Real-world cost at three volumes, plus the rates, fees, payouts, and contract terms that drive them.
Estimated annual cost at three realistic processing volumes, using Comgate’s published online rate plus monthly fees. Real costs vary with average transaction size, chargeback rate, and any negotiated terms.
Comgate is a Czech payment company that sells an online payment gateway for e-shops and card terminals for shops, restaurants and vending. The legal entity is Comgate a.s., registered in the commercial register on 16 July 2007 at the Regional Court in Hradec Králové. It was previously named ComGate Payments, a.s. The company says its roots go back to a student team, SmartNET, in 2000. It dates the Comgate brand to 2002, when the business was building SMS platforms and premium SMS payments. It added its payment gateway in 2010, when it obtained a Czech National Bank licence for payment services, and payment terminals in 2019. The registered office is in Hradec Králové, with a second office in Prague. Jakub Ouhrabka, who joined in 2000, has run the company since 2017 and chairs its board.
The commercial register lists CGX a.s., also of Hradec Králové, as Comgate's sole shareholder. Czech business press (CzechCrunch in 2022, Forbes Česko in 2023) reported that the company belongs to Nikolaj Šťáhlavský, who chairs Comgate's supervisory board, and Ouhrabka, with CzechCrunch describing Ouhrabka as the minority shareholder. We did not see a primary source for the split. As of October 2026, Comgate's own website cites CZK 53 billion in annual payment volume, 23,000 e-shops, 10,000 payment terminals and about 80 employees. The fully paid share capital is CZK 616.6 million.
Comgate holds a payment institution licence from the Czech National Bank and is supervised by it. The company says it obtained a licence without volume limits in 2016 and can offer payment services across the EU. It is a principal member of Visa and Mastercard. Its milestones page dates its card-acquiring contracts to 2023, and Forbes Česko reported in October 2023 that it had become the first Czech non-bank acquirer; the narrative on the same about page says 2024. Merchants sign a framework contract for payment services directly with Comgate a.s. Its terms say card payments are provided either directly by Comgate or in cooperation with the Czech bank ČSOB, so some card acquiring may still run through ČSOB. Comgate says it renews PCI DSS Level 1 certification annually.
Comgate publishes its price lists in full. The figures below are from the CZK online price lists as of October 2026; Slovak merchants have equivalent lists in euros. Card rates apply to Visa and Mastercard, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. There are three published plans plus a custom plan for merchants processing more than CZK 3 million a month.
The price lists say prices are final and include all fees. Comgate's marketing goes further, promising that it does not pass changes in card-scheme or issuing-bank fees on to clients. Its terms, valid from 23 August 2024, are narrower. They let Comgate change service fees with immediate effect when card companies or other payment-method providers change their charges. The terms also state that Comgate's fees do not include VAT, a point the price lists themselves do not mention.
The terminal price lists use the same plan names. As of October 2026, Easy charges 1% on EU consumer cards and 2% on other cards. Profi charges 0.67% + CZK 0.60 on EU consumer cards, 1.8% + CZK 0.60 on EU business cards, 1.3% + CZK 4 on non-EU consumer cards and 3% + CZK 4 on non-EU business cards. On Easy and Profi each terminal costs CZK 300 a month to rent, with one terminal free for every CZK 100,000 of monthly card volume across the account; only the Start plan makes the first terminal free regardless of volume. The Comgate POS app, which turns an NFC Android phone into a terminal, costs CZK 50 a month per installation and is free above CZK 50,000 a month. Installation is free, a SIM data plan is CZK 70 a month, and a terminal can be bought out for CZK 5,000 excluding VAT. Terminals take payments in CZK and EUR.
The contract is signed online, after anti-money-laundering identification. The gateway connects through plugins for more than 100 e-commerce platforms or through an API. Before going live it needs card-scheme approval following a final validation. Shoppers can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank buttons, PSD2 or QR bank payments, meal-voucher cards, or deferred, three-instalment and instalment payments from partner lenders such as Twisto, Skip Pay, Cofidis and Home Credit. With the three-instalment and instalment methods the merchant is paid in full and does not carry the shopper's default risk. The gateway handles nine currencies and 26 languages, and offers recurring card payments subject to risk approval. Merchants manage transactions, refunds and reports in a client portal.
Comgate transfers takings, less its fees, every working day in one amount per currency, usually the day after the purchase. Payouts in CZK to a Czech bank account and in EUR to an EU bank account are free, and merchants can choose daily, weekly or monthly payouts at no charge. CZK payouts to a bank outside the Czech Republic cost CZK 30; payouts in PLN, HUF, USD, GBP, RON, NOK or SEK cost CZK 100. Daily and monthly statements come in CSV, ABO and PDF formats for accounting software. Profi merchants can pay an extra 0.1% to receive 100% of takings and have fees billed monthly instead.
The terms let Comgate withhold payouts for as long as it considers strictly necessary when it suspects fraud or conduct that could lead to refunds or scheme fines. How long that lasts depends on its investigation and any decision by state authorities. Comgate can also recover its investigation costs and set off anything a merchant owes against payouts.
The contract has no fixed term and can be ended at any time on two months' notice, without penalties or fees. The two-month notice clause in the terms is written for either party, so Comgate can also end the contract on two months' notice. Comgate can change the terms or tariff by proposing the change at least two months ahead; silence counts as acceptance, and a client that rejects the change in writing can leave free of charge with immediate effect. It can suspend the service at its own discretion without having to justify the decision, refuse to activate it on the same basis, and end the contract immediately for conduct that could harm its reputation or that of its partners. Merchants must keep terminal receipts for three years and supply copies within five days on request, or pay back the transactions concerned. The contract is governed by Czech law and is for businesses only; consumer-protection rules do not apply.
Comgate offers contracts to businesses operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; others are assessed case by case. Its help portal lists risk sectors that are allowed only after extra checks and possibly on non-standard terms. These include travel and ticketing, gambling and lotteries (with a licence), supplements, CBD products, crowdfunding, subscriptions and instantly delivered digital goods. Adult content, crypto exchanges and wallets, online marketplaces selling other people's goods, real estate agencies, telemarketing and web hosting are among the prohibited sectors for card payments.
We found no regulatory enforcement action, fine or lawsuit naming Comgate. Independent review data is limited. As of 27 October 2026, Firmy.cz shows a rating of 3.3 out of 5 from 57 ratings, and its own automated summary of recent reviews describes mixed experiences. Some reviewers praise quick, helpful communication, while others complain about delayed payments and weak support. Comgate replies publicly to reviews there, including negative ones. We could not find a Trustpilot profile for comgate.eu or comgate.cz. Comgate's homepage and about page quote review averages and counts without naming the platform for each, and the two pages give different figures, so we have not relied on them.
Comgate suits Czech and Slovak e-shops and shops that sell mainly to local customers, want local payment methods and a local provider, and value seeing the whole contract and every rate before signing. The Easy plan's flat 1% is simple for small merchants, and its CZK 100 monthly fee disappears above CZK 100,000 a month. Profi pays off for merchants whose volume is mostly EU consumer cards at higher ticket sizes. It is not built for businesses outside its two home markets, for merchants that need American Express, or for sectors on its prohibited list. Larger merchants should ask for the custom plan and compare it with an interchange-plus quote on the same card mix.

The payment services contract is concluded for an indefinite period. The client can terminate it at any time with two months' notice, without penalties or fees. The terms say the notice runs from the first day of the calendar month after the month in which notice is given. The clause is written for either party, so Comgate can also give two months' notice. Service cancellation is listed as free on the online price lists. Comgate can propose changes to the terms or tariff at least two months before they take effect; a client that does not reject the change in writing is deemed to accept it, and one that rejects it can terminate free of charge with immediate effect. Separately, the terms let Comgate change service fees with immediate effect when card companies or other payment-method providers change their own fees. Comgate can suspend the service at its own discretion without having to justify the decision, and can end the contract with immediate effect for conduct that could damage its reputation or that of the card schemes. Czech law governs the contract, and disputes go to the court that covers Comgate's registered office.
