Zoho Payments vs QuickBooks Payments (US, 2026)

Zoho Payments

Zoho Payments

B

Zoho Payments is the payment processing service built into Zoho's finance apps, including Zoho Books, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Billing, Zoho Inventory, Zoho Commerce and Zoho Checkout. Zoho announced its US launch on 14 May 2025, although archived Zoho pages show it already open to US-registered businesses by July 2023; it launched in India in August 2024. This review covers the US product. It takes cards and ACH bank debits online, through invoices, payment links, hosted payment pages, online store checkout and an embeddable widget. It does not offer US in-person payments. As of October 2026, US pricing is 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards, American Express included. International cards cost an extra 1.5%, and ACH costs 0.8% capped at $5. There is no setup or monthly fee and no contract. A $15 fee applies to every dispute, whatever the outcome. Zoho onboards and underwrites each business, but card processing and settlement run through Stripe and Adyen, and each merchant also accepts their platform terms. Card payments settle two business days after the sale and ACH payments four, then pay out on the schedule you choose. The product has almost no reviews of its own yet. Zoho's company-wide BBB file carries a complaint-pattern alert about support and billing, though that file covers all of Zoho's apps, not just payments.

QuickBooks Payments (Intuit)

B

QuickBooks Payments is Intuit's card and bank-payment service, sold as an add-on to QuickBooks Online rather than as a standalone merchant account. Intuit was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Mountain View, California; money movement is provided by Intuit Payments Inc., licensed as a money transmitter by the New York State Department of Financial Services, and the card acquiring itself runs through JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. and Paymentech, LLC under the commercial entity merchant agreement Intuit publishes. Rates are published in full and, as of the figures Intuit dated 30 April 2026, are 2.5% for in-person payments, 2.99% for invoices and other card and digital-wallet transactions, 1% for ACH bank payments, 3.5% for keyed cards, and 2.99% for buy-now-pay-later through Affirm. There is no monthly fee for Payments itself, no minimum and no long-term contract. The defining trade-off is reconciliation: nothing else puts card, ACH, PayPal, Venmo and Affirm volume straight into your books with no matching step, and nothing else in this price band has quite the same reputation for freezing deposits.

Overview

Zoho Payments and QuickBooks Payments are both payment services built into accounting and invoicing software: Zoho Payments into Zoho Books, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Billing and Zoho's other finance apps, and QuickBooks Payments into QuickBooks Online. This comparison uses US pricing. Zoho Payments is offered only in the US and India, and QuickBooks Payments has separate versions outside the US, including Canada and the UK. As of October 2026, Zoho charges 2.9% + 30¢ on every domestic card and 0.8% for ACH bank debits, capped at $5. QuickBooks charges 2.99% on invoice card payments, 2.5% in person, 3.5% keyed and 1% for ACH, with no cap published. Neither charges a monthly fee for payments or requires a contract. Zoho is cheaper on bank transfers, on card invoices above about $333, on chargebacks ($15 against $25) and on the software: Zoho Invoice is free, and Zoho Books has a free plan for businesses under $50,000 in annual revenue, against $38 a month for QuickBooks Simple Start (QuickBooks' own free plan sends only two invoices a month). QuickBooks is cheaper on small card invoices and on foreign cards. It also takes cards in person with a $49 reader or Tap to Pay on iPhone, deposits card payments taken before 3 p.m. PT the next business day, and can add a surcharge to online invoice payments. Zoho has no US in-person product and settles card payments two business days after the sale. Both are graded B on Payment Review, so the right one depends on how your customers pay and which accounting software you already use.

Key Takeaways

  • ✓Zoho Payments is far cheaper for bank payments: 0.8% capped at $5 against QuickBooks' 1% with no published cap, so a $10,000 ACH invoice costs $5 on Zoho and $100 on QuickBooks.
  • ✓QuickBooks Payments is the only one of the two that takes cards in person in the US: 2.5% with a $49 reader or Tap to Pay on iPhone. Zoho Payments' US product is online only.
  • ✓On domestic card invoices the two cross at about $333. Below that, QuickBooks' 2.99% is cheaper; above it, Zoho's 2.9% + 30¢ is. Neither charges extra for American Express.
  • ✓QuickBooks pays card money out faster (next business day for payments taken before 3 p.m. PT, against Zoho's two business days), but Zoho charges less for chargebacks ($15 against $25) and instant payouts (1.4% against 1.75%).
  • ✓Zoho's software costs less: Zoho Invoice is free and Zoho Books has a free plan for businesses under $50,000 in revenue, while QuickBooks Online's free plan sends only two invoices a month and Simple Start lists at $38.

Zoho Payments

Zoho Payments suits US service and B2B businesses that invoice online, collect large payments by bank transfer, and want low-cost or free accounting software from Zoho.

QuickBooks Payments (Intuit)

QuickBooks Payments suits US businesses that already run QuickBooks Online, take cards in person or by phone, bill smaller amounts, or need card money the next business day.

The Verdict

It Depends on Your Needs

Why?

Both are graded B on Payment Review, and each is cheaper in different places. Zoho Payments wins on bank transfers (0.8% capped at $5 against 1% uncapped), on card invoices above about $333, on chargebacks and failed ACH payments, and on software cost, since Zoho Invoice and Zoho Books Free cost nothing. QuickBooks Payments wins for businesses that take cards in person, accept foreign cards, bill smaller amounts or need card money the next business day, and it offers wallets, Affirm and surcharging that Zoho does not document. Most businesses should pick the accounting software first and use the payment service built into it. The payments difference alone rarely justifies moving your books.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this comparison

For bank payments and larger card invoices, yes. As of October 2026, Zoho charges 2.9% + 30¢ on domestic cards and 0.8% for ACH, capped at $5. QuickBooks charges 2.99% on invoice card payments and 1% for ACH with no published cap. The card rates cross at about $333: QuickBooks is cheaper below that and Zoho above it. QuickBooks is also cheaper on foreign cards (+1% against Zoho's +1.5%), and it is the only one of the two with US in-person rates, at 2.5%.

Zoho Payments works inside Zoho Books, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Billing and other Zoho finance apps, and it can also be used on its own through payment links and a checkout widget. Zoho Invoice is free, and Zoho Books has a free plan for businesses under $50,000 in annual revenue. QuickBooks invoice payments run through QuickBooks Online, whose free plan sends only two invoices a month. Simple Start lists at $38 a month. QuickBooks' GoPayment app can take in-person and keyed payments without a subscription.

Not in the US. Zoho Payments' US product takes cards and ACH online only, through invoices, the client portal, payment links, hosted pages and a checkout widget. Zoho sells point-of-sale devices only in India. QuickBooks Payments takes in-person payments at 2.5% with a $49 card reader or Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Zoho settles card payments two business days after the sale and ACH payments after four, then pays out daily, weekly or monthly as you choose. Instant payouts cost 1.4% and are available on request once an account has some history. Intuit deposits card payments taken before 3 p.m. PT the next business day, and a new account's first batch within five business days. Its instant deposit costs 1.75%, or nothing if you deposit to a linked QuickBooks debit card.

Zoho charges $15 for every disputed transaction, whatever the outcome, and ACH disputes can't be contested. QuickBooks charges $25 per chargeback and doesn't return it if you win. Its optional Payments Dispute Protection, priced from 0.99% of every card transaction, waives the $25 fee and covers card disputes up to $10,000 each and $25,000 a year.

QuickBooks Payments can add a surcharge to credit card and ACH payments on online invoices, though not to in-person or manual payments. Intuit lists it as prohibited for customers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico, and turning it on removes debit and prepaid cards, Apple Pay, Amex and Discover as payment options. Intuit says the option may not yet be switched on for every account. Zoho Payments' US help centre does not document a surcharge setting.
