Review · Fact-checked September 28, 2026
Wisetack is a San Francisco company, founded in 2018, that lets service businesses offer their customers monthly payments on jobs such as an HVAC replacement, a roof, a transmission repair or a dental treatment plan. It is not the lender. The loans come from its bank partners, which its lending-partners page listed in September 2026 as Hatch Bank, U.S. Bank and Happen Bank, the new name since June 2026 of LendingClub Bank. Wisetack runs the application, the offers and the merchant relationship, and the business signs Wisetack's merchant agreement. For home-services businesses the merchant cost is published and simple: a flat 3.9% of the financed amount, with no setup or subscription fee, unless the business opts into extended 0% APR plans, which cost 4.9%, 6.9% or 9.9% when a customer picks one of those offers. Customers see offers from 0% to 35.9% APR on terms of 3 to 120 months, on jobs from $500 to $65,000 in home services and up to $15,000 in auto, dental, medical and veterinary. The business is paid by ACH once the customer confirms the work is done, landing in 1 to 3 business days. Wisetack is built into Housecall Pro, Jobber and, by its own count, more than 30 other field-service platforms. Consumer ratings are split: 4.8 out of 5 from 936 Trustpilot reviews on a profile where Wisetack invites customers to review, against 1.23 out of 5 from 31 BBB reviews and 25 BBB complaints in three years.

US home-services contractors (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, fencing, garage doors, pest control) on Housecall Pro, Jobber or another integrated platform, with tickets from about $1,000 to $65,000 where financing decides whether the job closes or shrinks. It also suits auto repair shops and dental, medical and veterinary practices that need a simple pay-over-time option up to $15,000.
The take
B+For a US home-services business that wants to offer financing, Wisetack is one of the easiest options to price and to run. The 3.9% fee is published, there is no subscription, the offer can go out as a text or sit on the quote in Housecall Pro or Jobber, and the money lands a day or three after the customer signs off. It is not cheap next to a card payment: on a $12,000 job the fee is $468, and $1,188 if the customer takes a 24-month 0% offer on the top add-on plan. It also carries risk that a card sale does not. Your payout waits on the customer's confirmation, a customer can open a dispute within 60 days, and the merchant agreement makes you liable for refunds and lost disputes. The customer-facing side is good for most borrowers but not all. The complaints that recur on the BBB and in Trustpilot's negative reviews are about offers changing between prequalification and the final application, and about billing and payment mix-ups, which are harder to untangle because the loan may be serviced by any of several lenders.
Sell mostly small tickets (the minimum is $500 and 3.9% is a lot to pay on a job a card would have covered), work outside the United States, or need the funds before the work is finished and don't qualify for Progress Payments. Also skip it if you cannot absorb a refund clawback months after a job, or if you want to pass the financing fee to the customer: Wisetack's help centre says surcharging for choosing financing breaks the merchant agreement and can get the account deactivated.
The headline take, the audiences it's right (and wrong) for, and the genuine differentiators behind the verdict.

A published, flat merchant fee in a category where many providers quote only on application, and financing that sits inside the field-service software a contractor already uses. The loan is released only when the customer confirms the job is done, which suits multi-day projects better than retail buy-now-pay-later.
Real-world cost at three volumes, plus the rates, fees, payouts, and contract terms that drive them.
Estimated annual cost at three realistic processing volumes, using Wisetack’s published online rate plus monthly fees. Real costs vary with average transaction size, chargeback rate, and any negotiated terms.
Wisetack is a point-of-sale lending platform for businesses that do the work at the customer's home, shop or clinic. A contractor sends a financing application by text or email, or has it appear on the quote in their field-service software. The customer applies on their phone, picks one of up to eight offers, and releases payment once the job is done. Wisetack, Inc. is based in San Francisco. Its press materials say it was founded there in 2018; the BBB records the business as started in May 2018 and incorporated in January 2019, and Wisetack's own Series B post says it went live in late 2019. Bobby Tzekin, formerly head of product management at LendingClub, is co-founder and chief executive.
Wisetack does not lend its own money. Its lending-partners page said in September 2026 that payment options are provided by Hatch Bank, a California-chartered industrial bank, U.S. Bank and Happen Bank. U.S. Bank joined in January 2025. Happen Bank is LendingClub Bank under a new name: in April 2026 LendingClub announced that it had begun underwriting and originating home-improvement loans of up to $65,000 through Wisetack and had also invested in the company, and in June 2026 LendingClub Bank was renamed Happen Bank. Wisetack's payment help pages also list Citizens Pay as the lender on some loans. Since September 2025 an insurance group, Group 1001, has had a forward-flow agreement to buy home-services loans originated through Wisetack. Its investors include Insight Partners, which led a $45 million Series B, Greylock, Bain Capital Ventures and Quadrille Capital, which led a 2024 Series C whose size was not announced. The LendingClub announcement put Wisetack's network at more than 40,000 contractors.
Wisetack publishes its home-services pricing, which is unusual in point-of-sale lending. As of September 2026:
In practice, a $10,000 furnace replacement financed on standard terms costs the contractor $390. If the contractor is on the 24-month add-on and the customer picks the 24-month 0% offer, it costs $990. The add-on fee applies only when that offer is chosen, and Wisetack lets you trial an add-on and drop it at any time. The auto repair page quotes the same 3.9%. The dental, medical and veterinary pages mention only a per-transaction fee and give no figure, so a practice should get the rate in writing. What you cannot do is pass the cost on: Wisetack's help centre says surcharging a customer for choosing financing breaks the merchant agreement. Integrated software platforms are paid a share of revenue on financed jobs, according to Wisetack's partner page. That does not change the merchant's fee, but it explains why the platforms promote it.
Offers range from 0% to 35.9% APR depending on the amount and the borrower's credit, with state rate caps applying. Home-services loans run from $500 to $65,000 on terms of 3 to 120 months. The limit rose from $25,000 in June 2026, when Wisetack added 7- and 10-year terms starting at 9.9% APR. Auto repair loans run from $500 to $15,000 over 3 to 12 months, and dental, medical and veterinary loans from $500 to $15,000 over 3 to 24 months. Checking offers uses a soft credit pull. Wisetack says its loans carry simple interest with no deferred interest, prepayment penalty or origination fee. It also says it charges no late fees on the loans it services itself, while interest continues to accrue. Loans held by U.S. Bank, Happen Bank or Citizens Pay are managed by those lenders.
The weak point is the gap between prequalification and the final offer. Prequalification is a soft-pull estimate, and Wisetack's help centre says terms are only set in the full application. Borrowers on the BBB and in Trustpilot's negative reviews describe prequalifying for one amount or rate and then being offered less, or a higher APR, once the actual job price went in. In a March 2026 reply to a reviewer, Wisetack also said applications cannot be joint and that the maximum was then $25,000. For a contractor, the practical advice is to send the real application once the price is settled, rather than quoting from a prequalified figure.
The business is paid when the customer taps to confirm the work is complete. Wisetack sends the money by ACH the next business day and it arrives within 1 to 3 business days. Approvals stay valid for 90 days in home services, which suits jobs scheduled weeks ahead. If a job's scope changes, the loan amount can be edited or the application cancelled and re-sent up until it is paid. After that, changes go through Wisetack support as a refund.
Wisetack's Dispute Resolution Procedures are what replace a card chargeback. A customer who cannot settle a complaint with the business after three attempts over 14 days can ask Wisetack to open a dispute within 60 days of confirming the loan. Wisetack may withdraw the disputed funds from the merchant's bank account while it investigates, gives each side 15 days to respond and decides within another 15, and its decision is final. If the customer wins, the merchant reimburses Wisetack. Court-records listings show Wisetack filing breach-of-contract and collection suits against contractors in South Carolina, New York, New Jersey and Florida between 2023 and 2025. Trellis's summary of one 2025 complaint says the merchant agreement lets Wisetack debit the merchant's account and charge 1.5% a month on balances unpaid after 60 days. We have not read the agreement itself, which is presented at sign-up. Wisetack's general terms let a merchant request account closure at any time, which can take up to 30 business days, and let Wisetack suspend access for any reason.
Most contractors meet Wisetack inside their software. Housecall Pro offers it as its consumer financing, at a flat 3.9% (excluding the 0% add-ons) on jobs from $500 to $65,000, and lets the contractor change 0% add-on plans from its My Money tab. Jobber's help centre (updated August 2026) says financing is available on every Jobber plan except Lite at a fixed 3.9%. Monthly-payment options appear automatically on residential quotes of $500 to $65,000, net of any required deposit, and funds arrive 1 to 3 business days after the client confirms the work. Jobber limits eligibility to one-off-work trades with 10 or more online reviews averaging about 4.5 stars and $12,500 or more in monthly revenue. Wisetack names more than 30 integrations in all, including JobNimbus, Thryv, WorkWave, FieldPulse, ArcSite, BuilderPrime, Contractor+, Contractor Accelerator, PaintScout, Projul, Shop Boss and Dental Intelligence. Progress Payments works only through the Wisetack portal, PaintScout and Contractor+.
Trustpilot shows 4.8 out of 5 from 936 reviews as of September 2026, 92% of them five-star. Wisetack invites customers to review there, so most entries are short notes written right after a smooth application. The BBB tells a different story from a much smaller and self-selected sample. Wisetack has been accredited since January 2022 and is rated A-, but its 31 customer reviews average 1.23 out of 5 and it has 25 complaints in three years. Borrower complaints cluster around billing mix-ups (duplicate withdrawals, interest charged after a payoff, a loan billed through Citizens Pay to the wrong person), prequalified amounts not honoured, automated phone support, and credit reporting after a customer stopped paying over a dispute with the contractor. Merchants complain too: 2024 complaints describe accounts deactivated after customers had been approved and payouts not received, and a 2026 merchant review describes applications voided because its merchant account had lapsed without notice. Wisetack replies to most of them publicly.
For a US contractor on Housecall Pro, Jobber or another integrated platform who loses or shrinks jobs over price, Wisetack is an easy default. The fee is known before you sign up, the offer appears where you already quote, and you are paid within days of finishing. Treat 3.9% as a sales cost, not a payment cost. Use it where financing wins or enlarges the job, not on tickets the customer would have put on a card. Opt into the 0% add-ons only if the margin on those jobs can carry up to 9.9%. Explain to customers that prequalification is an estimate and that they should note which lender their confirmation email names. That heads off the two complaints that come up most.

Wisetack's General Terms of Service (updated 2 September 2026) let a merchant request account closure at any time by emailing support@wisetack.com. The request can take up to 30 business days, pending transactions are cancelled, and the account stays open until anything owed is paid. Wisetack can suspend or end access at any time and for any reason. The terms include an arbitration clause with a class-action waiver. The merchant agreement itself is presented at sign-up rather than published, and the general terms say it prevails where the two conflict. A 2025 collection complaint Wisetack filed against a South Carolina contractor, as summarised by the court-records service Trellis, describes it as making the merchant liable for refunds, lost disputes and unpaid amounts, allowing Wisetack to debit the merchant's bank account, and charging 1.5% a month on balances unpaid after 60 days. Customer approvals stay valid for 90 days in home services and 30 days in other industries.

Unsecured closed-end installment loans, and in some cases lines of credit, that a business's customer applies for on their own phone from a text, email or link on a quote or invoice. The customer sees several offers (up to eight in home services, by Wisetack's merchant pages) in under a minute, locks one in, and releases payment to the business when the job is done. Wisetack runs the application and the lending partner makes the loan. The partners were Hatch Bank, U.S. Bank and Happen Bank as of September 2026. Happen Bank is LendingClub Bank under the name it took in June 2026, and began originating loans through Wisetack in April 2026. Wisetack says it approves about 74% of applicants.
Optional merchant plans that let qualifying customers choose interest-free financing for longer than the 3 months included on every plan. The higher fee applies only when a customer picks the longer 0% offer. Wisetack says roughly half of approved applicants see a 0% option. The plan can be changed or dropped at any time in the Wisetack merchant portal, in Housecall Pro or in Contractor Accelerator.
A link a business can send early in the sales conversation so a customer can see how much they may be able to finance, using a soft credit check. Wisetack's help centre says prequalification is an estimate only and that final terms are set in the full application. The gap between the two is the most common complaint in its negative reviews.
Lets a financed customer release up to half the job cost when the contract is signed and the balance on completion, so a contractor can cover materials up front. Up to two payouts of at least $500 each, totalling under $25,000. Available only through the Wisetack portal, PaintScout and Contractor+, and only to businesses that pass a separate underwriting review.

As of September 2026: 92% five-star and 4% one-star, 250 reviews in the past 12 months. Wisetack invites customers to review and has replied to all negative reviews. Most reviews are short notes from borrowers about a fast, simple application. The negative reviews are mostly about final offers that came in lower or dearer than prequalification, requests for ID documents, declines despite good credit, and payment mix-ups.
BBB-accredited since January 2022 and rated A- as of September 2026, with 25 complaints in three years (7 closed in the past 12 months). Borrower complaints cover billing mix-ups such as duplicate withdrawals and interest after a payoff, prequalified amounts not honoured, credit reporting after disputes with the contractor, and automated phone support. Merchant complaints from 2024 describe accounts deactivated after customers were approved and payouts not received, and a 2026 merchant review describes pending applications voided because its merchant account had expired. Wisetack answers most complaints publicly.
As of September 2026, for home services, a flat 3.9% of each financed amount, deducted from the payout. There is no setup fee or subscription. That covers every interest-bearing offer and the 3-month 0% APR offer included on every plan. If you opt into an extended 0% add-on, you pay 4.9%, 6.9% or 9.9% only when a customer qualifies for and chooses the 6-, 12- or 24-month interest-free offer. Otherwise the fee stays 3.9%. Wisetack's auto repair page quotes the same 3.9%; its dental, medical and veterinary pages do not publish a figure. Through Jobber, financing is available on every plan except Lite at 3.9%.
